The Special Jurisdiction for Peace in Colombia (JEP) – MACRO CASE 06: 24 FEBRUARY 2019

Macro Case 06 opened in February 2019 to investigate victimization of minority political party members by the Colombian Armed Forces.

  • On 24 February 2019, the Special Jurisdiction for Peace in Colombia (JEP) opened an investigation regarding the victimization of members of the political party, the Unión Patriótica or Patriotic Union (UP), by Colombia’s Armed Forces. The UP lost its legal status as a political party in 2002 and did not recover it until 2013. During this period, members were victims of homicide, forced disappearance, and forced displacement.
  • Other victims accredited under Macro Case 06 as the investigation continues include the Patriotic Union Party (UP), the Sintramienergética Union, the Colombian Communist Party (PCC) and the Central National Provivienda Union (CENAPROV).
  • In October 2019, accredited victims had the opportunity to be heard regarding crimes committed against them via listening sessions hosted by the JEP.
